This is a collaborative “portrait“ piece on Bill Plympton: The King of Indie Animation. It evolved into a uniquely molded peek into Bill's creative vision and the inspiration for his hand drawn, animation art. The film crew interviewed and followed Bill on his travels to film festivals, animation master classes and personal appearances in New York City, Woodstock, LA and Portland, Oregon where Bill originally hails from and back to his studio in New York City where his animation magic happens.
“ADVENTURES IN PLYMPTOONS!” documentary features many interviews, with
Bill' s famous friends, including Terry Gilliam, Matthew Modine voice over in Bill's short film, “Santa, The Fascist Years” and star of “Full Metal Jacket” and Academy Award winner Keith Carradine voice actor in Bill' s “Hair High.”
Others interviewed include: “Hair High” voice actors Ed Begley, Jr., Jay O' Sanders and Peter Jason. Directors: Chris Wedge, “Ice Age” and David Silverman “The Simpsons Movie.” Musicians: Moby and Weird Al Yankovic. Tom Kenny the voice of SpongeBob and Martha Plimpton, star of “The Good Wife.”

Bill Plympton: Legendary, Animator, Director, Producer. In 1987 Bill received his 1st Oscar nomination for “Your Face” and in 2005, Bill received his 2nd Oscar nomination for “Guard Dog.” In 2010, Bill was an Oscar contender for his animated feature, “Idiots and Angels” and his animated short, “The Cow That Wanted To Be A Hamburger.” New from Bill, “Guard Dog” Global Jam an animated unique compilation from invited animators around the world, of one shot each from his Oscar nominated short film “Guard Dog.”
New short films, “Summer Bummer” and the Weird Al music video “TMZ” are currently at Film Festivals. A member of the Society of Illustrators, Bill has been honored by the MoCCA Art Festival, as a Cartoonist of the Year. http://www.plymptoons.com.
